Why Are We Addicted to Salt?

Salt – it makes your food so much more flavorful, but we also know that it's not necessarily good for us. In small pinches, salt is important for the body, because it is an electrolyte that helps balance fluids in the body. The problem is that salt also has a major impact on our heart and kidneys. Too much sodium makes it harder for the kidneys to eliminate the excess sodium, which may lead to an increase in blood volume. This can contribute to raising blood pressure to a dangerous degree.

How Meal Delivery is Cheaper Than Grocery Shopping

Life is busy, too busy sometimes. Busy enough that you don't have time to cook but more than that busy enough that you don't really even have time to go to the grocery store. Think about it – maybe you're a single parent whose just gone back to work after a long maternity leave, or a household with multiple kids with multiple activities that require you to chauffeur them around town on an increasingly hectic schedule or maybe you're a bit older and getting out just isn't as easy as it once used to be. What can you do? Sure, you could order take-out all the time but 1) that gets expensive and 2) (more important) it's terrible for your long-term health. OR you could try a meal delivery service that makes fresh, healthy meals with local ingredients. But wait?

Reheating Seafood? Really?

Have you ever heard this before? “The only thing worse than eggs when reheated? Fish. Just don't do it.” Guess what? Not true. It is true that fish is never going to be better than it was when you first cooked it. It is also true that it is very easy to ruin fish while reheating it. BUT not only is reheating frozen seafood perfectly safe but it can taste absolutely delicious (depending on who's prepared it), and it's simple to do.

First and foremost, there's our preferred method – the microwave oven! Faster heating time, no mess and no fuss.

Why do Americans Have Such a Poor Perception of Frozen Meals?

Frozen dinners are quick & easy to make on those nights when you get home late from work and are exhausted, or when your family's schedules are hectic and you just don't have time to cook. So why don't more people take advantage of frozen meals? Why do they get such a bad rep anyway? Not only are they simple to prepare but they can be nutritious AND delicious.

What to Count – Carbs or Calories?

So you're trying to be healthier in the new year – exercise more, sleep more soundly, eat better and lose weight – but you've already gotten stuck when it comes to the eating better and losing weight part. You know you have several options you can go with, amongst them portion control or watching carbs, so which is it? Which will provide the better value for you? It actually depends on which you find easier as both have proven to have benefits.

How to Perfectly Reheat a Steak

You've ordered that delicious flank steak or filet mignon (yum!) meal and now you want to reheat it to perfection so that the steak tastes just as juicy as when it was first cooked. Guess what? You can do that! There are actually a few different ways, so take your pick.

Reservations For One

Reservations For One

Being single isn’t all that bad; you have more freedom and fewer obligations. Dining alone, on the other hand, is a whole different story. Going to a restaurant by yourself can be boring and even uncomfortable. Many restaurants may discourage dining alone, and you may be asked or required to sit at the bar. Even though the stigma associated with dining solo is admittedly not as awful as it used to be, it’s still a situation many singles avoid, and we don’t blame them!
