Be Your Best Self
Happy 2021! It’s the start of a brand new year, so why not get back to being the best version of you there is?
THE STORY: 2020 is finally done and with the start of 2021 it looks like good things could be on the way - for example, the new covid vaccines. Why not start off the brand new year with a brand new mindset? Instead of worrying so much, try focusing on being your best self by eating healthy, exercising more, taking time to do what you love and practicing self-care.
A NEW MINDSET: There are lots of things you can do to focus on being your best. One of the easiest ways to get started is by making changes to your diet. Maybe you’d like to lose a few of those quarantine pounds or maybe you need to stick with a certain type of diet but found yourself getting a bit lax with it at the end of last year. If you love cooking, there are plenty of recipe websites available to get you back on your game - check out Allrecipes or Ready Set Eat to find something new, healthy, and delicious to make. If you want something even easier, Top Chef Meals has meals that cover several dietary needs including diabetic, low carb, low fat, low sodium, gluten free, dairy free, renal diet, keto, and paleo. With our chef-prepared meals delivered straight to your doorway, you’ll have more free time to devote to exercise, hobbies and whatever makes you feel great.
The holidays have a habit of wrecking our healthy routines. We eat more and exercise less. If you haven’t started getting back into the swing of an exercise routine, now is the time to start. Even a small amount of daily activity has amazing benefits! Even if your gym is closed there are plenty of ways to stay in shape at home, with or without equipment. If you need ideas for ways to workout from home, visit our blog HERE with plenty of ideas!
In some ways, somehow, quarantine life is even busier than it was before. From homeschooling while working from home to coming up with ways to keep the kids entertained, you’ve likely been missing out on time for yourself. This year take the time to make time for you. How you spend your time is an investment in who you are - who do you want to be this year? How can you manage to take time for yourself? Start with embracing routine. Sticking to a daily routine makes it easier for you to schedule time in for yourself (and yes, we do mean schedule, just like you would with work time or school time). Next, start small. Maybe you feel like you can only take 10 minutes for yourself. That’s fine! Do that, then gradually add more time when you feel like you’re able. Finally, learn to say no. Most of us have learned to feel guilty if we tell someone we can’t do something, but there’s no shame in saying no. You don’t need to apologize or make excuses either, just a simple no will suffice. Remember, boundaries are good! There are lots of ways to create time for yourself - make sure you take care of yourself this year.
Finding ways to manage your mental and emotional health is just as important as taking care of your physical health, particularly in times of stress. While we’re all hoping 2021 is less stressful than last year, you should practice self-care regardless. And it doesn’t have to be something extravagant like a day at the spa! Here are 50 free ways to practice self-care at home. It’s easier than you think.
THE ROUND-UP: Make 2021 a better year by taking care of yourself and getting back to the best version of you. Even with spending more time at home, there’s plenty you can do.
